All collaborative projects live on the liveliness of the communities that develop in them. Masticationpedia is no exception: here too there is a (still small) community of contributors discussing the project choices. However, since the scientific method is the only beacon that must guide us, in Masticationpedia the Community does not have the sovereign powers it can have elsewhere, and if one day the Community decided for instance to make the Project state that the Earth is flat, that consensus would be incinerated by the scientific method, by which that hypothesis proves wrong.  

Alle Verbundprojekte leben von der Lebendigkeit der Gemeinschaften, die sich in ihnen entwickeln. Masticationpedia macht da keine Ausnahme: Auch hier gibt es eine (noch kleine) Community von Mitwirkenden, die über die Projektentscheidungen diskutiert. Da jedoch die wissenschaftliche Methode das einzige Leuchtfeuer ist, das uns leiten muss, hat die Gemeinschaft in Masticationpedia nicht die souveränen Befugnisse, die sie anderswo haben könnte, und wenn die Gemeinschaft eines Tages beispielsweise beschließt, das Projekt zu erklären, dass die Erde flach ist, dieser Konsens würde durch die wissenschaftliche Methode eingeäschert, mit der sich diese Hypothese als falsch erweist.
